News: combustible ice mining-a new opportunity for the oil service industry

2018-11-14

On May 18, the China Geological Survey of the Ministry of Land and Resources announced in the South China Sea that my country's test mining of combustible ice in the Shenhu Sea in the northern South China Sea has been successful, marking that my country has become the first in the world to achieve continuous and stable gas production in the trial mining of combustible ice in the sea. As a new type of energy, the key to obtaining economic mining value of combustible ice is the breakthrough of mining technology. In the past 20 years, scientific and technical personnel in the United States, Canada, and Japan have confirmed that through wellbore pressure reduction, hydrate gasification can be achieved, flow into the wellbore, and obtain continuous low-yield gas flow at the wellhead. Chinese scientists and technicians take a step further in the hydrate test in the South China Sea.

Chinese scientific and technological personnel in the South China Sea hydrate test in a higher level, through suction pressure reduction, coupled with the separation of supporting water and sand gas, for the first time to achieve a daily air flow of 20000 cubic meters. We believe that large-scale depressurization process, coupled with the use of reliable sand-carrying drainage gas recovery process, is the most feasible technical route for combustible ice to obtain commercial exploitation value in the future. In these aspects, Hengtai Aipu has a series of technical reserves. As one of the largest energy service companies in China, Hengtai Aipu cooperated with relevant state departments to undertake the research of combustible ice project in a country in the Middle East as early as 2013, and signed a million dollar R & D project contract. The project uses 21 two-dimensional seismic data, through laboratory tests of natural gas hydrate rock physical parameters, pre-stack and post-stack seismic data prediction, two-dimensional pseudo-three-dimensional attribute interpolation, a detailed description of the characteristics of combustible ice, preservation conditions, spatial distribution, gas saturation, etc., and a detailed analysis of the distribution and resource of combustible ice in a sea area of 2000 square kilometers, finally, 465 pages of results report, 2 papers, a set of technical routes and processes were formed. At present, our company has successfully passed the acceptance of the project, and the research results have been highly appraised by the partners. In addition, with the advent of the era of combustible ice mining, Hengtai Aipu Group's subsidiaries that have mastered rotary steering drilling technology and gas, water, and sand separation technology, as well as providing natural gas downstream application equipment and storage and transportation, will also usher in new Market opportunities and challenges.
