Newsletter: Comprehensive Research on Reservoir Prediction and Hydrocarbon Detection in Myanmar AD1/8 Block successfully passed the acceptance

2018-12-29

On the afternoon of September 27, 2014, the Comprehensive Research on Reservoir Prediction and Hydrocarbon Detection in Myanmar AD1/8 Block undertaken by Hengtai Aipu Company successfully passed the final acceptance of Hangzhou Geological Research Institute of PetroChina. Rui Zhifeng reported to the experts of the acceptance team on behalf of the project team of Hengtai Aipu Company. Based on the most advanced theories and technologies at home and abroad, the project carried out the identification of sedimentary unit types and combinations, the establishment of high-frequency sequence framework-sedimentary evolution models, the identification and tracking of sedimentary bodies in key sequences, the delineation of key sand body extinction lines, the identification and delineation of tectonic-lithologic traps, and the detection and characterization of hydrocarbons in favorable traps.

Based on the most advanced theories and technologies at home and abroad, the project carried out seven aspects of work: identification of sedimentary unit types and combinations, establishment of high-frequency sequence framework-sedimentary evolution models, identification and tracking of sedimentary bodies in key sequences, delineation of key sand body extinction lines, identification and delineation of tectonic-lithologic traps, detection of hydrocarbons in favorable traps, and proposal and evaluation of favorable exploration targets. The exploration idea of "favorable sand body-trap sand body-reservoir-forming sand body" in the deep water area without well is put forward, and three innovation points such as reservoir inversion in the well-free area under the control of virtual well are formed, which has good guiding significance for the deep water exploration research in Myanmar.

The acceptance expert group of Hangzhou Institute fully affirmed the solid work and outstanding achievements made by Hengtai Aipu Company for the subject research, and gave full affirmation and high evaluation to the project. During the implementation of the project, the project team reported twice to CNODC Chief Geologist Dou Lirong, Academician Jia Chengzao, Academician Tong Xiaoguang and other head office experts. The proposed two well sites were unanimously approved in the voting process of the expert group and will be drilled in 2015.

Here, I would like to express my gratitude to the experts who have given careful guidance to the project team and congratulate all members of the project team.
