On June 25, 2019, relevant leaders of the United Front Work Department of the Beijing Municipal Party Committee, the Civil Affairs Office of the Standing Committee of the Beijing Municipal People's Congress, the Beijing Federation of Overseas Chinese, the Haidian District Organization Department, the United Front Work Department and the Haidian District Federation of Overseas Chinese held a meeting in Hengtai Aipu Group Co., Ltd. Beijing Municipal Overseas Chinese Rights Protection Legislation Research Symposium. The symposium was presided over by Comrade Zhao Hongsheng, Party Secretary of the Beijing Federation of Overseas Chinese.
Nearly 30 people were invited to participate in this symposium, including representatives of overseas Chinese and returned overseas Chinese relatives, key overseas Chinese businessmen, heads of key overseas Chinese-funded enterprises, and leaders in charge of relevant functional departments serving overseas Chinese.
Before the symposium, Mr. Sun Gengwen accompanied the leaders and guests to visit the supercomputing center of Hengtai Aipu Group and gave a brief introduction to Hengtai Aipu Group.
At the symposium, Comrade Liu Chunfeng, deputy convener of the Beijing Municipal Overseas Chinese Affairs Joint Council and deputy director of the United Front Work Department of the Municipal Party Committee (Director of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the Municipal Government), delivered a speech and requested that the legislative plan or materials for the protection of overseas Chinese rights and interests that meet the requirements of the National People's Congress be produced as soon as possible. Comrade Sun Jie, director of the Civil Affairs Office of the Standing Committee of the Beijing Municipal People's Congress, delivered a speech and said that since Guangdong, Fujian, Hubei, Shanghai, Zhejiang and other places have successively promulgated regulations on the protection of overseas Chinese rights and interests, Beijing, as a city with a large number of overseas Chinese, is in the protection of overseas Chinese rights and interests. In the research work, relevant laws and regulations should be studied and formulated in due course, and strive for early promulgation.
