On the afternoon of November 15, 2013, the project "Positive Simulation of Cave Reservoir in Yuqi Area" undertaken by the Comprehensive Geological Research Department of Hengtai Aipu Company passed the final acceptance smoothly at the headquarters of Sinopec Exploration and Development Research Institute. Sinopec Exploration and Development Research Institute leaders and experts attended the acceptance meeting. Facing the difficult problem that different types of cave reservoirs in Yuqi area cannot effectively distinguish between filled caves and unfilled caves, and the internal structure of caves directly affects the calculation of effective storage volume, the project team is closely combined with Party A. All members carry forward the work of hard work, continuous work, dedicated research, fine organization, strict quality control, and carry out forward modeling of wave equations of different types of cave reservoirs and quantitative description of internal structures of different types of reservoirs.

In the attribute optimization, the research idea of "optimizing the sensitive attribute of unfilled reservoir after optimizing the sensitive attribute basis of reservoir" is always maintained in the process of making the quantitative version, the research idea of "first using the sensitive attribute of cave-type reservoir to make the reservoir size and quantity version, and then using the sensitive attribute of unfilled cave reservoir to make the quantitative version to judge the filling degree" is always maintained, layer by layer and step by step. Finally, the seismic attributes which are beneficial to reservoir and fluid identification and karst cave quantitative interpretation drawing board are obtained. It is of great significance to effectively distinguish between filled caves and unfilled caves, to find favorable reservoir development areas in the work area, and to guide the seismic prediction and fluid identification of reservoirs in this area.

The successful completion of the cave-type reservoir forward simulation project in Yuqi area is another example of the successful application of SIMO, the wave equation forward simulation software with independent intellectual property rights of Hengtai Aipu.
