Major Breakthroughs in Shale Gas Cementing Technology, Products and Construction

On October 10, 2013, the first well cementing of the Shell Sichuan Shale Gas Cementing Project was successfully constructed by Chengdu OMEK Company, followed by the second shale gas well cementing operation on October 11. The successful construction of these two wells indicates that OMEK's cementing technology, products and construction capabilities have entered the international market and reached the world's leading level.
The shale gas cementing materials, technologies and construction processes independently developed by OMEK were used in the shale gas well cementing of Shell in Sichuan. This technology combines the patented technology owned by OMEK:
· High temperature long seal section with large temperature difference to prevent over-retarding and high-efficiency oil-based mud cementing;
· Elastoplastic cement that enhances the long-term sealing performance of the cement ring;
-Technologies such as horizontal well cementing to improve displacement efficiency and prevent channeling and leakage.
Full of ambition to serve the country, Omega Company's people overcame the high temperature and high pressure (131 ℃,12000psi), long sealing (single-stage sealing section is 5200m long), large temperature difference (temperature difference is 90 ℃), easy super retarding at the top, oil-based mud affecting good cementation of cement stone, and difficult to improve the displacement efficiency of horizontal well cementing (horizontal section is more than 1200m long), in the later stage of shale gas exploitation, world-class technical problems such as high elastic-plastic requirements for cement stone by staged fracturing are used. Modern high-tech software technology is used to carry out scientific process design, closely communicate and coordinate with all parties involved in the operation, and finish the construction in detail.
The construction process is smooth, the construction parameters are consistent with the design simulation, and the technical indicators are in the world's leading level in the field of shale gas cementing. The successful construction of these two wells is another demonstration of the company's technical strength in the field of shale gas cementing with high difficulty and complex cementing after the company completed the cementing of Sinopec's key shale gas wells-Yuanpage 1 well and Jiaoppage 2 well last year, obtaining excellent cementing quality and withstanding the later fracturing test. The construction time of the two wells is only one day apart, which also shows that OMEK has a strong technical service capability of operating multiple wells at the same time in the same block.
It is gratifying that with the successful completion of this technology and Shell's cementing project, it will also lay a more solid and reliable technical support for the vigorous shale gas exploitation that has been carried out in China.
